I doubt it. But I guess that what this show is trying to do is to demonstrate the so called "10 Dimensions". Some of these dimensions have been established already by now. But not all of them have been established. It seems that there's not really one race per dimension. I think that the Salamandrians and Insectoids exist in the same dimension. Then we have the Utroms in Dimension X with the other aliens just as the Rock Soldiers and those animals. So in conclusion, I guess thatg the show is just trying to do something new by adding the "10 Dimensions" into play.

I don't know where they got the idea. They didn't do that in 2003 or 1987 or even the comics.
