I think not necessarily. Sometimes mutagen turns beings into the last thing they touch (i.e., Splinter), but sometimes it doesn't (i.e., Pulverizer). Garbage Man got turned into garbage but garbage doesn't have DNA. So I don't think it's necessarily true that mutagen mixes DNA with the last thing the mutated being touches. Furthermore, I think the reason why the turtles became humanlike turtles is because the mutagen is capable of granting beings humanity. For example, Leatherhead turned into a humanlike alligator though the last thing he touched isn't a human. Therefore, I don't think it's necessarily true that this relationship is incestuous.
Sorry. I think that was a mistake. He disappeared at the end of E14 and returned at the beginning of E18, which means he disappeared for three episodes not four. He should have spent 45 days traveling through dimensions, which is about one and a half month.
I have a feeling that he might have known ahead of time from his meditations that he was going to die, and so wanted to guide three of his four sons away from the scene of his demise.
I just watched the episode in which Splinter dies again. I found it a bit hard to rationalize his behavior. In the beginning, he tells Leonardo that he's not going to be there one day, and Leo needs to assume the role of father as well. He also tells him to lead his team from his heart not brain. The next thing he does is agree to leave the lair to visit Karai and the Mutanimals. But when they arrive, the Mutanimals' hideout has already been burned down by Shredder. They rescue Karai and the Mutanimals, and Splinter sees trails leading to two directions. Splinter instructs Leo, Raph, Mickey, and Leatherhead to follow one path, and him, April, Casey, and Slash to follow another. (Karai and Shinigami did not fight because of injury; Mondo and Dr. Rockwell disappeared, presumably also because of injury) Leo warns him that it's a bad idea to split up. But Splinter inexplicably dodges the point, and tells Leo "remember what I told you: from your heart," and goes. I think Splinter should have been able to realize that this was a trap to separate and distract them. Splinter ignoring Leo's warning just makes me further suspect if he actually knew ahead of time that he was going to die in this battle. Can you rationalize his behavior for me, or provide an interpretation as to why he's doing this? Thank you!
Tiger Claw was eaten in S2E14, and returned in S2E18. I think it is a good idea to suppose that a season is a year. If a season has 24 episodes, the interval between each episode should be around 15 days. Then Tiger Claw should have spend around 60 days returning, which is around 2 months.
I definitely don't. You can see the reason why I don't in the comment of a poll titled "April with..." What do you think?
I indeed voted Casey. I know you guys disagree, but please hear me out. First of all, I think Apritello just definitely wouldn't work. Donnie couldn't have made it any clearer that he likes April, but April was indifferent. In the episode where metalhead first appears, she heard Donnie say "she's so beautiful," but April, as a response, get annoyed rather than being happy about the fact that he likes her, which she would if she liked Donnie. There are several cases in which she kisses him on the cheek, but non of these cases were terribly romantic, and it seemed to me more like a sister kissing a brother or kissing a best friend. Some of you might point to the fact that in season 3, she said to Donnie "You're not just a mutant Donnie, you are my mutant." However, I think she said this to prevent Donnie from getting too down, knowing that she might have killed Donnie's hope to be with her. I think this also applies to many evidence of her showing affection to Donnie. She wanted to tell Donnie a white lie and give him some false hope just so she doesn't break his heart. Furthermore, as revealed at the beginning of season 2, deep down inside her, she believes it's the turtles who dragged her into this life she doesn't want, this life of mutants and aliens. I also highly doubt if she could get over the prejudice of not seeing Donnie as a human, when she at least appears to be a human. On the other hand, what do we know about the relationship between Casey and April? Her first impression of Casey couldn't have been worse. He tripped her over with a hockey ball, and refused to apologize. Yet despite this, she would still be willing to walk home with him. When Casey says they're on a date, she says with an intimate if not flirty voice "Who says we're on a date, Jones?" This directly contrasts her response when hearing Donnie's compliment for her. After Casey also knew about the turtles, Casey is the person she could most resonate with, which would definitely further bring them closer. Last but not least, I'd like to just further remind everyone of the fact that the previous version ended with April marrying Casey, so I believe this would be consistent with the tradition of the show.
Me too.
Good point.
Yeah. I'm just saying she's not as much as a mature adult or as much as a protagonist as she may be in other versions.
I think both Splinter and Shredder admitted that Splinter gave birth to Karai.
I think it's April's problem. Donnie made it clear that he likes her. If she liked him, she would have responded by getting into a relationship with him. However, she never kissed him in a romantic way. The fact that April never tells this to Donnie honestly, to me, seems to be because she doesn't want to hurt Donnie's feelings. Nevertheless, I think this deceives Donnie into thinking that there's maybe still a shot. I personally think she'd do him a favor by telling him honestly that she doesn't have feelings for him.
I think April holds prejudice against the turtles in that she doesn't believe the turtles are human, even though the turtles are mentally human. She believes that the turtles are somewhat responsible for her having to fight aliens rather than living like a normal girl. Because of this, I think there's no way she'd want to get romantic with Donnie.
I guess if Karai were as hateful as Shredder, she would have killed Leo the first time she met him, and wouldn't have cared about the Kraang. I think Shredder has reason to hate Splinter, but I don't know if that should justify his prioritizing of killing Splinter over saving the entire Earth. The fact that the Hamato Clan raised Shredder at least means to me that he should be thankful somehow. So I think Karai might not be as hateful as Shredder is, even though she still is pretty hateful.
By the way, I don't think the Hamato Clan deceived Shredder about who his father is. So I think Shredder shouldn't hate the Hamato Clan the way he did. Karai's deceived about her identity and being commanded to harm her own father. Because the Foot fell after the Shredder was adopted, I believe he was never told to fight his clan.
Mikey definitely likes Shinigami a bit when he first saw her. However, I think he likes Renet at the end of the day. It's much more convenient for Mikey to ask Shini on a date than Renet, but he never asks Shini and asks Renet in season 5. Renet's also more suitable for him, because both of them are somewhat silly and clumsy in the way they do things, when less commonality can be found between Mikey and Shini.
I think Karai and Shredder are still intrinsically different in that Karai ends up on the just side when Shredder could be described as a total villain. However, I do think you are right in pointing out what you said. Splinter also said Karai is filled with hatred like her father.
I personally think April's character is more complicated in the 2012 version. For starters, I think deep down inside her, she thinks it's the turtles who dragged her into this life she doesn't like, even though the fact that she has superpowers means that there's no way she could live a normal life anyways. This could be seen through what we get at the beginning of season 2. She blames the turtles for pulling her away from the life of a normal person, despite the countless times the turtles saved her. She blames the turtles for mutating her dad, but she shouldn't, because it's an accident, and it's the turtles who rescued her dad in the first place. She's also egoistic. In the episode where Kurtzman first appears, she insists on going into TCRI, ignoring the advice of the other members, which put her in danger. She allows her own desires to take over what should be for the team. In the fourth-to-last episode of season 4, when her alien crystal goes out of control, she almost kills all other members of the team. However, because she learns how to control how power, she says "at least some good came out of this." I'm shocked that she could be so optimistic in prioritizing the good for her over what could have been death for her friends. By this, by no means am I saying that she's totally negative. In the episode at the farm house, when all the others blame Mickey, she's the only one sympathetic about him. She's a character with conscience. I feel like she doesn't like Donnie, as shown in the second episode of season 3, and she doesn't want to break his heart. She thus never tells Donnie that she doesn't like him. However, I think this harms Donnie. This deceives Donnie into the impression that there's still the possibility of her liking him, and still holds hope about impressing her, even though there probably isn't. I personally suggest that she'd probably do Donnie a favor by telling him honestly that she doesn't like him. I think that what she does about her relationship with Donnie is questionable and controversial. Compared to the April of the previous editions, I definitely think that she is less of a positive character, and more of a complicated person.
