Koga Takuza was the dreaded founder of The Foot Clan. He was the one who created Shredder's Helmet, the "Kuro Kabuto". He is first mentioned in the Season 2 episode "The Legend of the Kuro Kabuto".

Takuza is said to be one of the greatest warriors in the history of Japan. His skill with a blade was greater than most any samurai. He stole the sacred totems of his fallen enemies and fused them into an alloy stronger than steel to create the Kuro Kabuto. Takuza founded the Foot Clan in 512 A.D. and was its first leader.According to the Shredder, Koga Takuza was a feared and powerful swordsman. He was capable of easily defeating every samurai he encountered with only his katana. Every time he killed his opponent, he would take their a piece of their armor as a token.
